I just realized something. Writing is hard! I originally had a goal to write a third or a full page for the first story, but with the time we had (about half an hour), I only got done half a page. I was just looking at the half a page and how hard I had been working and how little writing had turned out. I also saw that with blogging, it's so much easier to get more work done because you're not really trying to impress anyone or maybe it's just because you're talking about how your day went or something like that.
One exciting thing so far is I have figured out exactly what my end product is going to look like. I'm going to buy a really fancy folder/notebook type thing and put a table of contents in the beginning. Even though I might not get many stories done by the time Genius Hour is over, I will still be making more problems and advice stories in my free time. I was thinking I could write a page or two of just the student explaining his or her problem to the counsellor and the counsellor giving her advice. This way, if people want to know how to solve a certain problem, they can look at the table of contents and flip directly to that page.
I had a little problem while I was writing my half page. At one point, I was trying to think of a word for being ignored or the group leaving her out, but it was a more detailed word. I couldn't think of it until I looked up synonyms for ignored and found the closest one that I could find. That happens a lot when you're writing so now I know to be prepared for the next time it does.
