Ancient Greece Project Reflection

Throughout the process of making my ancient Greece project, I have gathered a lot of interesting information that I am really proud of. Although it was fun to put together this project, there were a couple challenges. The first one was that I was making this project more stressful than it needed to be, and I thought that we had to do more work than we actually had to. I talked with Ms.Bains and went over it and she told me that it wasn't as much work as I thought it was. This made my project more fun and it was a really good learning experience for me.
One other challenge I went through, was we had a certain amount of time to present our projects. My project was chalk-full of information, but I had to cut some off because it would've been too long if I had presented it all. It was really hard for me to choose the ones that I wanted to present because they were all important to my presentation, but in the end, I think the audience enjoyed my presentation as it was. I think the part they were most excite about though, was the food. In the ancient Greek culture, Greek salad was really important to them, although they just called it salad. There is a picture below of what I made for the class, and they tasted delicious! If you like Greek salad, you should make these.
The most important learning that came out of this project was probably learning about the Greek culture and the way that some aspects of that culture was integrated into our Canadian culture. For example, the first two words of the Greek alphabet are "alpha" and "beta". These two words together became the word "alphabet". Also, the olympics started in ancient Greece, and has become an important part in our Canadian history and culture.
One other thing that was important in my learning throughout this project, was that I shouldn't be afraid to ask for help when I need it. I was very confused at one point while I was making my project, and I didn't ask for help, until I got to the point that I was flat-out angry at myself because I didn't understand what we were supposed to do. After getting angry with myself, I decided to talk to Ms.Bains and it really helped.
I feel like this project could be one of the best I have ever made. I put a lot of work and time into it, I even stayed up until 10 every night working on it. We had a certain criteria for our project, and being creative was a really big part of mine. One way I was creative was I made the little food items. No one but me brought food for the class and I think that's what most people remembered about my project. My presentation involved a lot about stories and myths that the Greeks believed in and I think that the stories got people interested in my project. I am very proud of the time and effort I put into my project, and it was a very valuable learning experience.
